The Don Pablo Story

In 1989 Darron J. Burke, founder of Burke Brands LLC., moved to South Florida in search of adventure.  Little did he know he would soon meet the love of his life Eliana.  While visiting Eliana’s family in Colombia, Darron fell in love with Latin culture and its delicious coffee.  The couple recognized an opportunity, and learned everything they could about coffee growing and roasting in Colombia, and then traveled the rest of Latin America to further their education, and to forge relationships with more coffee growers.

Eliana’s grandmother nicknamed Darron “Don Pablo” after a character in her favorite tongue twister, because as a Spanish speaker she had much difficulty pronouncing his real name correctly.

A quarter century later, the passion, focus on quality, and dedication to the craft of small batch artisan roasting, shines through in every fresh cup of Cafe Don Pablo specialty coffee.

What makes Cafe Don Pablo Specialty Coffees the Best?

Our Family Ties

We have relationships at the point of origin that give us a dedicated source of supply of the finest Arabica beans available. We grow, pick, and process our own coffee beans in Colombia and manage the production of over 1,000,000 coffee trees in South America through our Sharing Certified Program. We never blend our coffees with Robusta, past crop, or defective beans. We have an on staff Q Grader who ensures the quality of every bean we roast. We are AIB Food Safety Certified and Certified by CCOF for Organic Production.

The Art of Roasting

We slow roast our special beans in small batches to ensure they reach optimum flavor and freshness. Our loyal customers wouldn’t have it any other way. We have found that people who really appreciate a great cup of rich, aromatic, eye-opening coffee, can taste the difference between our fresh, properly roasted beans, and others that are roasted by the metric ton and sold by huge corporations. We roast in multiple small batch coffee roasters in a process that is half art and half science.  We artisan roast by sight, smell, and sound to assure that the natural sugars in the bean are being caramelized in just the right way to bring out their optimum flavor.  We also use a sophisticated computerized roasting profile system to monitor and ensure the quality and consistency for all our different roasts.

Freshness is Everything!

Besides the finest quality Arabica beans and artisan roasting, another secret to great tasting coffee is freshness.  The shorter the time from the roaster to your cup, the better the coffee tastes.  We accomplish maximum freshness by roasting to order, instead of on a production schedule like our competitors.  We roast to order in regional small batch roasting facilities in the U.S. We never roast overseas, on a production schedule, or allow distributors to warehouse our coffee.  We also do not require large minimum orders from our customers, guaranteeing that you get the freshest coffee possible.  You can smell the difference! We guarantee flavor, freshness, and a clean finish. Make it as strong or as mild as you like by adjusting the ratio of coffee to water. Cafe Don Pablo coffees are always rich, smooth and delicious!
